Why Choose a Mini Digital Camera? Why Choose a Mini Digital Camera? On Tuesday, September 28th, 2010 at 5:22 pm, No Comments »
If traditional digital cameras and even SLR cameras do such a better job taking photographs, especially in non-ideal situations, why on earth would anyone want a compact digital camera? Usually, a mini digital camera is the best option for would-be photographers when their priorities are portability, price, and convenience. Many ultra-small cameras come on key chains or with attached straps to wrap around your neck, so that you can always carry your camera with you without having to drag around a bulky camera bag. Most are also sturdy enough to survive some banging around, and they’re usually made out of tougher materials than normal digital cameras, so you can bring them with you into the outdoors and active situations. Because mini digital cameras don’t come packed with as many features as a normal-sized camera, they are significantly cheaper than the camera industry average, often less than $100 and sometimes cheaper than $50. They are the ultimate point-and-shoot camera, which is good for people who don’t usually adjust their camera for each picture, and it allows you to take a snapshot quickly, and keep moving or doing whatever it is you’re doing.
If you’d like to take pictures that are better quality than most cell phones can produce, and aren’t willing or able to buy a full-sized camera, ultra-compacts can be a great compromise. Many recent models also provide video recording options, which is rare to find on a cell phone at all. Another reason to choose a mini digital camera is to take advantage of its niche appeal. Many photographers have different cameras for different scenarios – a waterproof camera for ocean and lake activities, a digital SLR for landscapes and stills, and an ultraportable camera for casual and outdoor events. Finally, the price is hard to beat anywhere, unless you count your cell phone’s included camera. These mini cameras work great as a starter set for kids, or for technophobes who are convinced that traditional cameras are too complicated for them. They’re easy to use, easy to carry around with you no matter where you go, and the price tag is usually extremely easy on the eyes. Leave a CommentLeave a Reply |
